SECTION V: HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION


Acute Eye: Eye contact may cause severe irritation, pain, tearing, or corneal burns.

Acute Skin: Prolonged or repeated skin contact can cause moderate skin irritation and reddening. Contact with moist skin can cause burns.

Acute Inhalation: Inhalation of vapor or mist may cause severe irritation of the nose, throat, and lungs, chest pain and coughing.

Acute Ingestion: Material is harmful is swallowed. Gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea may occur.
 

SECTION VI: FIRST AID MEASURES


Eye Exposure: Flush with a steady, gentle stream of water for a minimum of 15 minutes. Seek prompt medical attention.

Skin Exposure: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected areas thoroughly with soap and water. Seek medical attention. Wash contaminated clothing thoroughly before reuse and do not take clothing home to be laundered.

Inhalation: Move subject to fresh air. If breathing becomes difficult, supply oxygen. If breathing ceases, induce artificial respiration. Seek medical attention immediately.

Ingestion: Drink 1-2 glasses of milk or water. DO NOT induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, keep airway clear. DO NOT give anything orally to an unconscious person. Seek medical attention immediately.

*Physicians should treat symptomatically.

Personal Protective Equipment: Wear full protective gear and use a self-contained breathing apparatus (pressure-demand, NIOSH approved or equivalent).

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: In the case of a fire, pressure may build up in tightly closed containers, resulting in the rupture of the container. Keep containers cooled with water spray in order to prevent such occurrences. Contain run-off. Remain upwind.

 

SECTION VIII: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES


Procedures: Use inert materials (e.g. sand, earth) to immediately contain the spill. Ventilate any confined areas. Keep spectators away. Keep spills and cleaning runoffs out of municipal sewers. Transfer liquids and solid diking material to separate suitable containers for recovery or disposal. Take care to avoid falling as the floor may be very slippery.

Personal Protection: Material is a severe irritant. Compatible, chemically resistant gloves and protective clothing, including splash-proof goggles and rubber overshoes should be warn. If exposed to material, immediately remove all contaminated clothing and use soap and water to wash exposed areas. 

 

SECTION IX: HANDLING AND STORAGE


Storage Conditions: Avoid temperature extremes. Store in tightly-closed containers in a well-ventilated area.

Handling Procedures: Use in well-ventilated areas. Wash after handling the material and shower at the end of the work period. Keep away from food, feed, or drinking water. Keep out of reach of children.

Other: Improper disposal or re-use of this container may be dangerous and illegal. Consult applicable local, state and federal regulations for more information.

Respiratory Protection: Under normal operating conditions, there are no requirements. Whenever workplace conditions warrant the use of a respirator, a respiratory protection program meeting OSHA 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements or equivalent must be used. Where vapor or mists may occur, wear a MSHA/NIOSH approved half-mask air-purifying respirator or equivalent. The air-purifying respirators should be equipped with NIOSH approved organic vapor cartridges and N-95 filters or equivalent. If oil mist is present, R95 or P95 filters should be used.

Eye Protection: Use ANSI Z87.1 approved or equivalent chemical splash goggles or face shield. Eye protection worn must be compatible with the respiratory protection system being used.

Hand Protection: Chemical-resistant gloves should be worn whenever handling this material. Neoprene or butyl rubber gloves should be used for splash protection only. Glove permeation data does not exist for this material. Gloves should be rinsed and removed immediately after use. If there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough, gloves should be removed and replaced immediately. Hands should be washed with soap and water.

Other Protection: To avoid prolonged or repeated skin contact, a chemically-resistant apron or impervious clothing should be worn.

Engineering Controls (Ventilation): An exhaust ventilation with a minimum capture velocity of 100 ft/min (.5m/sec) at the point of vapor evolution should be used. Information on the design, installation, use and maintenance of exhaust systems can be found in the current edition of Industrial Ventilation: A Manual of Recommended Practice, published by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists.

Other Protective Equipment: A safety shower and eyewash facility should be located wherever the material is being used or stored.

Instability: Although this material is considered stable, exposure to excessive heat should be avoided.

Hazardous Decomposition Products: No hazardous decomposition products are known for this material.

Hazardous Polymerization: Hazardous polymerization does not take place with this product.

Incompatibility: Contact with strong oxidizers, reducing agents, bases, acids, mineral acids, and aluminum should be avoided.

SARA TITLE 3: Section 311/312 Categorizations (40CFR 370): This product is categorized as an immediate health hazard.

SARA TITLE 3: Section 313 Information (40CFR 372): This product does not contain any chemical at or above the minimum concentrations listed in Section 313.

CERCLA Information (40CFR 302.4): Under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), release of this material to air, land or water is not reportable to the National Response Center. Under the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) Title III Section 304, release of this material to air, land or water is not reportable to state and local emergency planning committees.
